Welcome to Animal Rescue Cymru (A.R.C.)

We are a small, independent rescue charity, (charity reg: 1146676), based on the beautiful west Wales coast, and our sole aim is to rescue and re-home domestic animals. We do this with the aid of a small band of dedicated volunteers and experts whose sole aim is the welfare of animals.

We would like to say a BIG thank Lucy at  Tidy Paws Dog Grooming for all her hard work & effort with our dogs.. She works tirelessly on all the grooming needs of any & all of the ARC dogs that come through our rescue, & it’s not always an easy job! Tidy Paws Dog Grooming is based in Cardigan & we would thoroughly recommend them.

Thank you to Aberporth & District Dog Club who have supported ARC since we began almost 14 years ago. They have helped train some problem dogs, given lots of enjoyment to other dogs through agility & fun & games. We are pleased to recommend them for all & any of your dog training needs.

Hack & Hound began as a wishful idea over a birthday meal, someone said at the table ‘well, you could just start your own business’. I felt like that was the green light I needed, just someone to say ‘ you can do it’. So I did, and here we are.
My inspiration for the canine side comes from my dog  Stanley- he was born in a rescue and spent the first four months of his life there. I couldn’t help but feel sad for all the things he had missed out on as a little one, no hugs and kisses, fluffy bed, fire to sit beside or days out at the beach. Now I’m partnering with the same rescue he came from so that 10% of some of Stanley’s favourite things go back there to help more dogs like him.

On the Equine side, there’s Mr Bean. He’s my horse of a lifetime! I bought him from a trekking centre that was closing down- he’d spent 15 years going up and down the same beach line and forestry with new riders bouncing around on his back. He’s such a brave horse, nothing bothers him and he can certainly turn his hoof to anything, including horseback archery! At 20 years old he’s still going out and taking me around my first XC course and helping me to refine my riding. Beans is quite forward going for your typical riding school cob!
These two are the reason for Hack & Hound, and they are the reason I get up every morning 💜
